I'd get a huge kick outta seein some old Lawn-Boys. Just gave away my last old Dura-Farce with the black plastic carb. Some of the very early cast deck designs were pretty cool to see also. When I worked for a long standing local dealer there were L-B parts and mowers out back that I'd never seen before. Fun snooping around in the old junk piles there...

I have a old 18" cast deck with a brick style motor. My dad said he bought it used in the mid 60s. I get it out once in a while and run it around the yard. The neighbors think I'm crazy. They are however much quieter than chainsaws from the same era. Ill have to snap a picture of it. I have looked for pictures that look like my mower but they all have the motor with the long ways side to side this one is front to back .

Your neighbors are gonna KNOW you're crazy when you bust out one of your Homeheavys in the yard there. It'll make 'em look.

Ya the chainsaws always get 'the look' best was the 60" dbh hitting the ground. That tree brought out the neighborhood.

The brick top is my favourite and is a classic to most LB collectors . I like the D series versions but I would like to find a late 50's C model sometime .

some of the canadian lawnboys look different since they used different wheels. and they didn't get brake handles till the later 80's

Someone say lawnBoy, Ya i have had a thing for the oldie two strokes
since i was a kid. Used to find em at the local dump. Fix and sell. Had
a blast doing it and learned a lot.
As of now i have a few brick tops and a nice buttercup. Maybe 6 total.
I'd post some pic's but they are all stashed away and hard to get to.
I also have an edger with the green brick top motor.

I was realy into lawn boys for a while I had a 1964 18" buttercup ,1974 21" mag deck with the D600 white top. two 1984 21" steal deck with the F engine, a 1994 silver series and a 2010 with a kohler. I still have the 1964 buttercup and a 1979 7268 with the F engine. I also have a 56-57 model brick top C series engine but no deck to put it on.

First lawn boy I bought from a local small engine shop when I was 14 was a 1958 . Had the front wheel with the arm setup on the deck .
I would like to find another sometime of about the same vintage and model . The brick top color was a brown-gold if I recall correctly but it was a CDN model so the machines of that area may have been different too .

I've been chasing my 1964 Lawnboy since my Grandpa bought it new. We've mowed parks, church yards, and lawns for all those years. Wore out a set of wheels and a few blades. It still runs, but these last 5 yrs. I use my 1969 18". It's still in original shape and starts within 1 to 2 pulls.

The trick for these is to always shut the gas off and let them run out instead of the on-off switch.

I'll get some pics after the foot plus of snow melts by the shed where they live.

what was the one,,where it was a walk behind mower, or you could put the "carriage" on the hitch, and it was a riding mower??

It was called a LawnBoy loafer, It had an engine/transaxle and a seat with a tow bar that attached to the regular push mower. You sat on the seat and steared with the mower handle. The loafer ran the brick top engine. Lawnboy also made edgers, snowblowers and tillers with the same engine. Lawnboy was owned by Outboard Marine Corp. OMC also owned Pioneer chainsaws.

If you google it there are quite a few pictures I think they came in red blue and gold colors.. the gold was for the 1958-59 models.
