Yes the 395 can rev quite well. Std they are EX 100. I don't know the 288 at all really but I've been told they run well so I assume they are similar too the 395. What I suggested works to get things moving but they are not optimized numbers. I just know from experience that if you are not sure why you are doing something then there is a chance it will go backwards. If you stick to the numbers others have given you or what I just suggested you will be safe and its pretty easy to do. I would not cut the intake down to 80 if I were you just incase you really get the bug and want to go all in with a squish cut etc because then your intake will end up too low. If that is not a possibility then those numbers are fine.

It get's more involved when we start cutting squish bands and then we want to correct the ports which are all too low. Once you need to raise transfers things get more complex.

Nice muffler mod. How does she run?

The old 4000s go OK I have a couple. Quite like em. Good solid reliable saws with a wide fat meaty power. Sort of like a 61 with a few more CCs. They are open port so don't rev but can muscle. I know a guy in the states who fitted a 272 top end to 1 and also a different crank and a 395 top end lol

The 288 isn't as revy as a 395 and believe the exhaust is around the 103 mark. I'd say I'd be happy to not touch the intake at all at this stage. Certainly don't want to wreck the thing

cutting squish bands could be on the radar eventually. Why not I guess

Wish the 395 had a manual oiler button for this sticky pine. It's turned up full noise and drains a tank but still between cuts a couple extra pumps would help alot.

Ehoas, I'm kinda drifting away from the hobby and sick of tripping over saws that keep me from using the most funnest ones.
As such, hit me up If you're interested in any of the following:

Echo CS420. New clone oil pump and Oregon chain. I can't tune the FN thing but it's in mint condition otherwise. $100?

44mm Husky 350. Resealed, 385 intake clamp etc. Reliable as. $150?

357 x2. I have so many of these I honestly can't remember the yarn. Ones a early version with later crank, rod, piston. Otherwise stock on new NSKs and seals and intake fix. Other is middle edition. Same build, but modified muffler. $350 ea ?

Not looking to pay for Luxons election promises, all actual invested costs so let me know if you want more info.

Cheers, Adam.

I see this is a NZ product so thought I'd ask here. I've got a couple of lawnmowers, a few generators and a water blaster (all single cylinder air cooled) so was looking at buying more in bulk instead of the pricey 5L packs.
This "SAE 30 Aegis red mower oil" looks like a good deal, but is there a reason it doesn't mention anything other than lawnmowers on the container or the listing?
Hoping it might suit All of the above.

Whatyou think @Kiwioilboiler

SAE30 doesn't have to be very flash Josh mate.
Send me a PM. I'll see if my work house brand is a better deal for you. If there's a store near you can just use my account to access the deal.
