Will those OUTERWARE fit the stock hd2 filter. I would assume they do. Would just like to clarify.

I have had problems with the outer-wears filters trapping saw dust in the filter. Keep an eye on it, sometimes doesn't seem to work way it is supposed to???

I never liked any type of wrap on a filter.
Seems to pack full faster

I use to stretch the prefilters from the original hd filters over the hd2 filters it worked well but was to restrictive for air flow. The outerware are cheap enough maybe I will give one a try. May a least help to keep the filter a little cleaner from the big chips that get stuck in there.

I think the k&n seal well. Nothing got by the k&n filter that is on my 084. I have the same setup that brewz has. Just bought an outerware for it to get rid on the foam k&n prefilter

Yeah sealed perfectly
If you to go back a page or so I posted a pic of the filter after cutting up an entire dead dusty tree.
Nothing got past.

The red foam pre filter is useless though
I probably seen it and didn't pay attention since I didn't have an 84 at the time.

A quick update after 3 hrs of run time. IMO it is doing a very good job at filtering... barely any fines are making it through. The outerwear cover is also collecting those little fines better. Also I peaked under the cover and the filter is about spotless. Maybe it directs air flow better?

Did you happen to notice any improvement in the saw operation? Just curious.

Not really, I had to richen the carb a bit. Throttle response is still very crisp
