K&N filters for Stihl models

I am not running the gasket on my 440 ,it seals on the 044-440 without one fine .the 064-66 needs one though

will one work on 461 ?

I think the single Max-Flow backing plate would be too flimsy, since the K&N filter cage doesn't have the rigidity of the Max-Flow cage. With an aluminum plate, or a thicker plastic plate, it should be fine.

I would think so ,or just cut one from an old filter cover

Just remember that these filters rely on the rubber seal that mounts in the filter plate on the 044/064/084 saws to seal

The filter has a flat hard face on both top and bottom with no integral soft seal built in.

Shame they don't make a new style HD replacement as they would be a big seller

I have some 1/4" uhmw I could cut one out of. I guess I could try one on my 46.

Wont fit a 460 handle ,the black filter plate is shaped wrong just like the 461

I guess id use both plates..id hate to buy one of these for no reason though.

Just got my rubber ring and put it on the 044 with the new K&N filter. Seems to me that the rubber ring is needed here, I guess I would not want to trust it completely without it.

i think they said need the gasket if the filter mount was made for it the k&n is rubber on both ends when the stuff gets to mike monday he can show more maybe

I didn't like the foam outer filter that K&N market as going with this filter
It didn't stop diddly squat.

So I ordered a few of these. They will work much better.
