Got mine on tonight and it seems weird not having a back plate....however that fear went away when I placed into the cover and heard a very audible clicking noise and seems to fit very snug.

Added a little oil to the mating surfaces. Put on a green prefilter and I am interested to see how it does!!

Brian did you see any fines getting by yours?
No fines got by my cover ,sealed up good .

Like said mine kind of clicked into place.lol

Seems like in other older threads nobody liked these? Wonder if people never gave them a chance?

Can't imagine these being bad as an HD filter, which they do filter lol

they really do fitinto these covers nice, ran mine for about an hr today and no fines were noted passing through.

Are you running outerwear as well or just filter? Have been wanting to get couple of these

122 cc's at over 12000 rpm needs lots of air so it went on the project 084

I really like it and recon it will work great

Now to order 2 more for the 044 and 064

Ran it up and she is 4 stroking strong at 13000 rpm

When I am out cutting wood on Sunday I will get the 044 warm and check idle and WOT revs with a HD and the K&N
Might find a nice lump of wood and do a few cookies to see if it makes a difference.

@MustangMike wants a decent video of my 044 anyway

I don't think my 440 has this black ring. I will check in a couple of days. Single digits out right now. COLD!

I am not running the gasket on my 440 ,it seals on the 044-440 without one fine .the 064-66 needs one though

If you look at the back of the Stihl HD filters, they have a couple raised rings that act as the sealing squishy bit when you tighten the filter down.
The K@N filter does not have this. It is flat hard plastic top and bottom (similar to the original HD filters that were flat metal) and needs the rubber ring fitted to the saw to act as the seal.
