That's a 1" x 6.5" grade 8 bolt and a grade 5 nut. I essentially ripped the threads off the bolt and friction welded them to the inside of the nut. I later chiseled 1 part out due to disbelief. All done with the standard 8 inch ratchet wrench. 1/2 drive. It was bent by the time I was done. No cheater bar of any kind. Just growing frustration it wouldn't go on. Wrench didn't survive either.

I bought a Stihl 046 Mag a few years back that was sold to me cheap as a non-runner. Here's what it looked like delivered:

Yes, it had trouble running, but all I needed to do was clean up the saw and open up the hi-speed carb setscrew a quarter turn. After I did that, it ran like gangbusters:

I added an outside bumper spike. This saw still runs today with power galore and easily pulls a 30" bar and chain. Thanks for looking.

I'm no rocket surgeon, but....mebbe you shoulda used a nut that fit? :thinking:

That was a locking nut...

It fit. It was a center lock nut. It was a little hot to touch the socket when I took it off the wrench. Nut had to be a little mad too.
