I wasn't clear on that post cause the saw in the pic has a muffler on it. We don't want a cat muff on the boy's first saw, so I'll get one up to you. Wish I knew or I'd have brought it up to Walt's Sunday.

Sorry about the confusion Bob, the muffler in the pic is being replaced because it has a split in it, I'll post a pic of it later this evening. I didn't even think to ask you to bring a muffler to Walt's...Doh!! Thanks very much for supplying a non cat muffler...What would you like for it??

My oldest (11) has repaired and flipped three saws now (with some help from dad). He earns a few dollars, learns some life skills plus it keeps his butt off the couch and electronics.

Looking forward to seeing this build unfold!

Thank you for letting him run your saws. He was proud he was able to start all saws that day except your 660. Here a close of him making some chips.

Just got home from work, back is feeling good. Updates on this Saw are coming this evening.

He’s actually pretty proficient at breaking this saw down. Hard for me to keep up with the pics! Lol!

Off comes the clutch cover, bar with chain and the top cover.

Next the recoil comes off, hard to tell with his bigass hands, but trust me he’s taking the recoil off...lol!



Then the flywheel shroud.

Piston stop installed for removing the flywheel and clutch.





With the clutch wrench in place Austin says “Don’t worry dad, I know it’s reverse thread.” This boy doesn’t forget anything when it comes to nuts and bolts.

Next a bunch of other smalls got removed.

And oil pump. Got some corrosion under the plate, nothing passes through but I hope it lasts a good long time.

The next things he took off were the handle, brake flag and dog.

Next up, muffler and carb.



Here’s why we’re replacing the muffler. Easy enough to repair but because it rotted through I don’t trust it to hold together in the long run





Another minor thing we have to fix...busted kill switch. I already grabbed a nice one from the junk pile to fix it.

Cylinder coming off, now he’s getting excited to split the case.



This thing was blowing by pretty bad. Intake skirt was starting to score.



This distorted pulse line rubber may or may not have caused a problem.
