Yes they are. But, that no name cylinder is in decent shape and we could do some experimental grinding on it in the future. Maybe I’ll let Austin “port” it and see how it runs...lol!Wow! The differences are quite stark
Introducing a 14 year old boy to redheads...[emoji38][emoji41]My 14 year old son has been wanting to spend his money on a cell phone or other electronic device lately. That all changed when I let him run my 372 a week ago and he has since been asking me for a trip to the saw junk pile at our local dealer.
Playing the responsible dad I convinced him that a 357 or 359 would be a better Saw to learn with. Plenty of power and reasonably nimble as far as weight.
So we head to the “junk” pile and what do we find but this 99% complete 2159. It needs all the normal updates such as intake clamp and carb kit, but overall it’s a solid builder. Probably a better start than I’ve had on any saw I’ve brought back to life from that pile.
All parts are on order and I’ll get pics and update this thread as we go through it together, but he’ll be doing the work with me guiding him along the way.
He has already cleaned it up pretty good, we’ll be starting the tear down tomorrow evening.

He will be a pro by the time he's 16.Introducing a 14 year old boy to redheads...[emoji38][emoji41]
You have no idea...LOL!You have no idea how jealous I am of all you guys who get to spend time with your sons and grandsons doing anything. The saw builds, toys and pig roasting must be quite a time for you two.
He’s pretty close already, he’s always had a lot of mechanical talent. Now it’s teaching him how to put things back together carefully. Pretty proud of himHe will be a pro by the time he's 16.
My youngest is 11, and needs more help on the put back together deal lol. He’s pretty close already, he’s always had a lot of mechanical talent. Now it’s teaching him how to put things back together carefully. Pretty proud of him
Couldn’t have said it better.Great thread,
enjoy all the time you can get, you’ve done the dad thing now it’s time for building good friendship of the future.
It’ll come and go be patient. I recommend if you give time up that you normally see them tell them they owe you a lunch date or visit.Yeh,
I wanted todo the same thing, but as my son lives with his mum, all of a sudden my son was 13 and not intrested in coming to see me. His mates were more important, he only saw me every 2wks so I was always on the losing side.
I cannot force him, I just let him know, “this is your choice”.
Yeh It sucks.. but if I push to hard, it will push him away
Maybe he will change his mind, but when, that’s a long wait to find out.
Cheers
