What eye protection do you all use? Too often I have felt like I'm wearing glasses without lenses. I can't remember, but I think I went to blow sawdust off a part with glasses on, and the instant the air hit it sawdust went all in my eyes. I recently got a bead of aluminum in one eye from the lathe with a different pair of glasses, luckily it wasn't a sharp chip, I thought an eyelash fell in at first until I went and looked.
Been welding since I was 12, had a steady dose of it since. If them sparks want in, they’ll get there. Goggles are the only sure stop, but they fog and render themselves useless.

And they don't seem to clean as well. I like how the glasses can be perfectly clear, but I've never noticed that with goggles. I just hate not having a perfectly clear view. I even have a problem with glasses fogging which makes me pull them forward a bit for better airflow. If it weren't for fogging I'd add foam to all the leaky spots. Too often I've had vented goggles not only fog, but the vents direct air right into my eyes.

The 462 balances quite well with a 24" bar, and I'm sure it would be fine with a 28" light especially if you are cutting softwoods.

Before I had larger saws I used to occasionally run a 28" on the 044 and it did just fine.

I use to run a 32” 9 pin on my 044.

To me the 462 is a 25" max type saw.

Yep... essentially a big boned 60cc saw.

I agree, I have bigger saws for that reason, I replaced my 562 with the 462, to me it lacks in torque for longer bars and isn't balanced very well w them, I am glad to hear they are holding up well for some of your loggers Randy, I was cautious at first because of it being so light, farmer Steve left me try his and it was a pleasure though.

I run 32” 404 on one of mine[emoji2371] I wonder if a 462 would do it?
New RS 404 chain asks a lot out of a 70cc saw. After about 4 sharpenings it’s a lot smoother, but I bet the 462 still wouldn’t like it.
I tried 36” .404 on @N8TE ’s xs462. Not YouTube worthy :(. But it did decent with 32” 3/8

Those older Stihl west coast clutch covers were some of the best on the market for noodling clearing performance. Not sure why they had to change them for the newer style, I liked them. The new “standard” sporty style seems to clog up easier. The metal catch doesn’t help either.
