What is that winter cover doing on that saw Heath? Gonna burn that mfer up.

Some cockeyed garden gnome put it on there & I haven’t taken it off yet.

That saw of CFB has almost as many miles on it as the one I’ve got of yours.

Traveling chainsaws. Don’t laugh. It’s a real thing.

Don’t I know it.

The first one you did went to the left coast before making its way back to Georgia.

The one with that cover on it went from NY to the frozen north, & then back across the boarder to the sunny South.

Exactly. Just a matter of tuning. I’m sure it can be tuned in the wood with the factory coil. Most of the guys I build saws for are loggers and tree service guys.....they can run the hell out of a saw, but tuning ain’t their strong suit.

As for the coil.....I usually use a 1300 coil from a MS290 or whatever. The 460 coils are getting tough to find used.

Unique to this model......the carb has got a stupidly small main jet.

Do you use a bigger jet or drill out the existing one and if so, how big do you go to?

No questions, just nice seeing ya post. Hope you're well and busy sir.

I'm good my friend.

It's been a good week. I got approved for some farm stimulus money, and qualified for tax exempt status on farm and timber harvesting supplies.

I put a coil from a 660 on my ported 461. Works well and no problem with RPM.

Great thread...
What grinding heads do you use and how often do you have to replace them?
Just trying to understand the monies involved in doing this...

I use alumihog style burrs. They last a few days each. Cost.....about 8 bucks apiece.

Do you use pop up pistons for the 461? Is there such a thing?

I don't use popup pistons. Not that there's anything wrong with that.....I've just gotten so used to cutting squish that it would slow me down to setup to cut a piston crown.

Is it beneficial to keep port timing with a pop up but its more work? Or is the changed port timing from milling the cylinder not noticable?
