I've been porting saws full time for 11 years now.

Either of those saws are great to work on. Well thought out machines !!!!!

I know for a fact that running a 28” chain a 562 it can just barely keep up with oiling, but i see people running 32” bars when ported so something has to be done right?

I can do a saw a day. But doing them in groups like this speeds things up a bit. It will take about a week to get these 8 saws done.

Stihl has a high output pump on the "R" model MS461. I just use the control bolt from that pump. On other saws I can mod the pump......but that's extra !!!!!

Adds two more ports to massage. Some quad port saw have little bitty uppers too. That means using a small burr that removes material slower. So.....two port motors gotta be quicker to do.

I pay about 50.00 less for the 461 than the 462.

The 461 needs a coil swap though......so it ends up costing more.

On some saws.....I don't have a problem with them. These 461s wanna turn a lot more RPM than 13,500 though.
