Not trying to be an ass, but you should've got 2 of each, I went thru 1 file converting 2 16" chains from round to square, might have just been me and my technique, might be save edge wasn't made for the hacksawing job I did?

There's where I got mine, delivered the next day!
Treestuff ships fast!

The next is from that same side after ive filed.

Looks like your low on the corner. Try setting the end of the file on the tie strap right above the back rivet. Kinda like this.

Then line up with the corner.

And try to make smooth straight strokes.

Here you can see where the file was rubbing on the strap.

Last night i did a quick demo vid of square filing ,granted i did this left handed (for Hedgerow) one handed ,only the weight of the saw holding the bar for me ,with my right hand holding my phone to film it,getting to far out on the bar it bounced some lol ,gives a general idea of the strokes are done filing though ,if you tighten the chain on the bar more ,and hold the bar with the other hand it helps tremendously ,if you can file the right cutters with your right hand ,and left with left hand ,you will get good results .That is Richard Rawlings in the background on the shop tv for distractions o_O

ok i'm going to have to try that with more angle.
If you full screen that video ,you can see the widest part of the file does just the top plate ,the little side triangle of the file does the side of the cutter ,the file is tilted some so does not graze the raker ,once you can connect all 3 spots you will have it .

I'm making a lot of assumptions here, but I believe @quietfly is using the Grandberg jig. If you are using the jig then you should be using the smaller "triangle" file. It appears to me that you are running the file straight across like you would a round file. If you watch the whole video that was posted earlier he gives you angles to set everything up at. From memory the top adjustment should be set to 35 degrees, the tilt adjustment behind the depth stop should be at 25 degrees. You should also angle the bottom flat of the file up towards the power head 8 degrees. Then align the corner of the file with the corner of the tooth so that the wider surface is cutting the top plate and the small side is cutting the side plate. Look at the pic below and you will see that these are the most extreme angles you can do on the Grandberg. My file was kissing the chain guide and jig body.
