Your corner is slightly low on the tooth, which is way better than being too high. You can surely see that it will sever the wood fibers. It's just a little too pointy to be durable. That is called a beak. A racer may form a beak intentionally on a chain that only needs to make a few cuts at a very high rate. That kind of edge may not even last for a tank of gas.

That's a chisel bit file.
They work fine. Essentially like a double bevel ripped in half lengthwise.

Much better QF..

Now get that corner of the file right through the middle of the point of the tooth..
Always shoot for perfect corner.
Won't happen always, but that is your goal.

So im trying to aim the file through the corner lined up with the top of the rear rivet. Does that sound right?

so in this picture i think i've identified what i'm doing wrong, (besides trying this in the first place)

The green arrow seems to be the "optimal" path of the file
the Red arrow is my current approximate path.
One issue i'm having is i can't get the file deeper in the tooth there doesn't seem to be enough space between the top and bottom of the tooth.

Take a few light swipes like that ,you need to reshape the tooth for it to fit in there
