My kids are 40 47 i took the time to convert vhs family movies to cd movies, made them copies,,i doubt they have ever looked at them.
Have a ton of pictures,, they dont seem to care.
It seems to be the new way of life.
Im gonna convert the CDs to digital and save them,, also save the pictures,, just because.
Maybe when Im gone they will show some interest, they are good kids.

Good Luck

The 3-2-1 backup rule

  • Maintain three copies of your data: This includes the original data and at least two copies.
  • Use two different types of media for storage: Store your data on two distinct forms of media to enhance redundancy.
  • Keep at least one copy off-site: To ensure data safety, have one backup copy stored in an off-site location, separate from your primary data and on-site backups.
This rule is a robust guideline for data protection, ensuring redundancy, resilience, and the ability to recover data even in the face of unexpected events or disasters.

These days, it's safer to store media on flash drives versus traditional, plate-style hard drives.

I have all of our stuff on HDs and SSDs, at least twice over, most things in threes.

Nothing lasts, and you can't take anything with you.

The sun will explode, and before then, we're all gonna die.
Well the picture of my great-great grandpa in his Civil War uniform is still around. I really do not know how it survived when the house burned in 61.

That's cool! Amazing it hasn't faded. We still have my grandparents' baby photos (1927 and 1930), though one of them is fading.

I'm only here because my great-great-great grandfather was dicking around while waiting for the North to arrive at Fort Donelson. He and some other guys decided to have a wrestling contest to boast their egos and see who was strongest. His leg got broken in the process, and he was sent home. Not many on the side of the South survived.

He wasn't a soldier, but got "enlisted" (threatened) and complied.

My Great-Great Grandpa fought for the North and luckily made it back. The picture I referenced was a very large family photo taken around 1902. He still had his uniform and was proud to still put it on. The picture was taken in the yard of the old house. My Great-Grandpa grew up in a period when the US was following a belief in isolationism. He did not have to serve. Two of his sons (my uncles) went to World War 1 and made it home. My Grandpa was the baby of the family being born in 1898. He did not have to go to WW 1. His son and son-law both dies in WW 2. My uncle Eldon died at Midway Island and my uncle Grannie (nickname) died in Europe. Sadly neither of their bodies made it home. Dad was the last male on the farm and did not serve.
