Because if it weighs more than the 261 it had better be worth the extra heft with a longer bar.

462 is too fragiliy.

You can still get a MS461R which is an improvement over the 460.

The Husqvarna 572 is the perfect replacement for the 461, its like a 461 but with better AV, ergonomics and is built like a tank. 462 is a bit underbuilt in our opinion.

Well I've only had one 461R and its been one of the best saws I've run for the size, it didn't stay stock for long because if there's more to be had I always go find it. I deleted the base gasket and followed Randy's thread as far as I dared with drilling the carb main jet, a 460 coil, and advancing the timing, then taking the sharp lip off the bottom of the intake port.. it runs great now with 32" bar...but to hear Randy say there's so much more torque to be had compared to the 462 makes me glad I went with a 461 when I just ordered my second 461, this one from Randy.

I ran the 572 prior to running the 462 in 2018.

It is built a little heavier than the 462 but I just don’t care for either of them.

I have a 462 and it is a very nice unit. Smooth and convenient to run with m-tronic and air injection but I would not buy another one. I much prefer my mildly ported 044.

046, MS460. MS461, MS462 and have it ported by a reputable porter, which one would it be?

Why?

Really depends on usage. If say you are climbing, limbing and topping trees, 462's light weight and peppiness would be pretty nice. If you are felling and bucking larger timber, 461 would be an excellent choice. The 046/460 had its day, anti vibe, ergonomics, power curve, weight etc. are just some of the reasons you aren't going to want to carry that older saw all day long any longer.
Then again I ported all three for one gentleman and he seemed pretty happy. Lol

And I thought I had myself convinced Friday I don't need a full wrap, very clean saw you got.
That pic was from about 4 years ago. Lol

Really I prefer a half wrap most of the time. 3/4 is nice though

Price is on the side of the 046. With the 461 and the 462 in full swing, a guy ought to be able to get a deal on a 46, which is still a hell of a saw.

I don't actually need one since I don't cut anymore. But I like the feel and hate to flip the saw over without one and drop the bar in the dirt.

Fatigue at the end of the day is another story, that's surely worth something in consideration to the end user.

046/460 are basically the same saw as a 461 except for the case and cylinder design. Nearly every part except for the case, cylinder, and plastics swaps between models. 461 is rubber AV just like the others

Age is the big difference.
