The recoil housings will interchange but the Fairbanks Morse setup uses a starter cup on the crank that the original 600 starter did not have. A cup will be needed to use a FBM recoil.
Hmmm. My 600 had the cup already. I just had to put starter on. Wonder if it was taken off for another saw then?
I need to find another starter for this one. Looked on ebay and looks like maybe a few other saws have a very similar setup.

Most early 600`s were converted over to the Fairbanks Morse starter setup, the early OEM starter used a nylon pawl to engage the flywheel, they often broke and the dealers were instructed to switch to the FBM setups.

Wondering if anyone has an extra air filter they are willing to part with for a pioneer p39. 475289 is the part number. Its a flat flocked looking filter.

The RA is cleaned up and ready to go to the museum along with the others. It is quite surprising how little the saws changed from the RA to the 650. Mike Acres has the IEL RA dated 1957-58 and the 650 from 1964-1976?

Forgive me for not reading through the entire thread, can anyone shed some light or point me in the right direction for some history on the IEL/Pioneer line?

H . Im new here. I bought a pioneer p41 off ebay for 148.50 because it looked barely used. I got it today and it has no compression. Looks like it was run on straight gas. It has spark. My question is where to find a new piston and rings. Possibly a cylinder. and also is it worth working on?? Thank you in advance. sorry if I posted this wrong

If you can post some pictures after taking the top end off. Definitely a saw worth building.
