Shielded bearings.
Thoughts?
Deep breaths Mike. It's gonna be alright.I'm sorry … a 10 mm slant fin red lever saw …
I have a 044 12mm case, that engine should have been left in tact.
I feel sick!

Just used the JMS Tool to relieve the large rod end a bit.

I recently acquired an 064 with shielded bearings. By the serial number, I believe it to be a very late model.Stihl used those for a time in the early 034/044/064 saws - The thinking was that the shields would protect the bearings from debris.
It didn't end up working out that way.
I was thinking that was all I had to do. Thanks.Just used the JMS Tool to relieve the large rod end a bit. Ive got about .009.

Depends. On some of them, the counterweights hit, but not the rod...I was thinking that was all I had to do. Thanks.
Thread killerI hate it when the lobes hang lower than the rod.
044 is a fine saw, but a hybrid is an awesome saw! (For a Stihl)
