So I took a trip down to our camp to snag a quart-cord out of the shed for my dad, though he doesn't need it with this lame winter....

Anyway, I wanted to beat on my 562 as much as possible, as I know chit usually happens early with a new saw.

Had a bit O trouble getting her to fire, but once she did, went to "work" on a totally inconsequential downed pine, just to continue with the break in.

Pretty cool, I don't know if it was simply warming up, but it was interesting to hear the 2-stroking in the cut slowly go away over a few minutes time cutting.

I don't know if the auto-tune was reacting that quickly, but that saw screams. Also used a stihl 262, no where NEAR the rpm's.

Well, I have a 346 NE that's bone stock, a 357xp and 372xpw, both of those had the base gaskets deleted, a little bit of matching of the lower transfers to the case, and muffler mods. I have owned the 357 the longest, bought it new in 2006. Since I did the little mods to it a few months ago, I'm falling in love with it all over again. It made a noticeable improvement! :)

I only have pics of my 372 right now, so that will have to do for the moment.

Love me some 346XP. Nice line up you got there. Who did the work to your 357?
Thanks, that photos is old, have dropped a few and gained more. I ported the 357 and a couple 346s'. The only 'real' port work I have is a 346 by Randy. Also have a couple 359s' with 357 top ends that will get ported at some point.

I am looking forward to getting a real McCoy port job or two done by Randy or any of the other reputable guys found here... It sucks because you want to give them all your business, but you only have so many saws! LOL!

But me being the tinkerer/motorhead that I am, what I'm REALLY interested in doing is getting the required equipment and learning to do my own.. Not because I don't want to give these fellows my business or think I can do it better, but because I love to learn, build, and tweek.. I love the pursuit of knowledge, and applying it once gained. And I love the satisfaction of seeing/using whatever the machine is that I just went through when the job is done...

High top filter uses a metal band clamp and the low is press seal. I found it not sealing as good as I wanted, hence the reason for the switch. And I gotta keep posting a pic each post so... more low top ;)

My wife is really smart (that's why I married her, and the tollhouse cookies). Anyway. she would say "if you don't want it making a mess in the house, (oil leak) take it to the woods.... Next week this thing is going to get used!
