I have a question. What does it take to swap out the two piece coil to the one piece?

That oil pump housing has seen better days. I may have one if you want to change it out.

Clutch back on.


Grease the bearing.


New seal in.

And on.

A little oil on the piston pin bearing.


Slide the piston pin in place.


Make sure you get the clip fully seated.

New gasket in place.


Oil up the bore and piston well, slide the cylinder down.


And tighten the bolts.

Flywheel key back in place.


Lay the flywheel back on, I like to put a socket over the crank and give it a sharp tap to make sure it is seated on the taper.


Tighten the nut well.

Cool thread Joe. I have a silver tag 266 that needs just a little bit to finish. It will prolly stay 266 though.

On to the carb box. There are a couple of grommets that are more often than not missing, it is a good idea to replace them.


Remember the intake difference that was mentioned earlier, here it is. The 266 block has separate bolts holding it onto the cylinder, 272 uses the carb screws.


So the 272 screws are different.

I bought a oem 395 kit not too long ago and the cylinder was mahle and the piston ks. Not a defect on them that I could see, real nice.

Doesn't look too bad.


But looks can be deceiving, into the cleaner with you.
