Is this true for the bigger 2 series cylinders also ?
can't speak about bigger cylinders, but I got a few 254's.
254's, I got 3 different KS jugs and 2 different Mahles, spread from 1987 to 2001, aint much difference between them, but they used same carb from 1986 until 2001.

Its got the later style handle, haven't found a real good handle with tool compartment but I'm gong up to pick up a 1990 262 next week. Maybe that handle will be nice. Got to get some glue for that sticker!!

Early Mahle non comp jug. So,a KS 87 will help it?
it's the only jug who is close to the KS shape in transfer, if there was any benefit with stock saws & 87 combination it gotta be on KS and non decomp Mahle.
I got 2 262 runners at the moment, both has 87 carb, KS jug and Mahle 48ZN15, 205 vs 215 psi, the impression I have about those two is that KS&87 is more snappy even it has a tad less compression

As I've said before I think the non decomp.Mahle is snappier than the decomp saw. Has a different exhaust note also. Same muffler.

Give it a shot, I think you are spot on.
48ZK3 who is probleby the jug you have, is the only Mahle exept the 48ZK3 decomp who has in my eyes close the same shape inside as KS had.

Tom, the 199 worked great on your saw. I swapped out the case, new Nachi bearings.....it's looking great. I'll test drive it again in a day or two.

MS460 rebuild with port work in front of me......
Thats alright, perfection takes time my man!!! Lol Can't wait to see how you did with the 199!
