Heres my ks 87 262. Waiting on one from Mr. Mastermind that I know hes putting his special recipe on! LolView attachment 31839View attachment 31840

What year is yours? My ks 87 262 is a 1991 and like yours has the "262XP Professional" sticker on flywheel cover. Most say "Air Injection" whereas I think the "Professional" one is more rare. Trying to dig up my pics.

My saw is the second cutting. It's wearing the 144 carb in the video. Saw 1-paragon, 2-DRF, 3-Mastermind.

Adding the 87 made it cut right in between saw 1 and 2 later on.

Here's all 3 again with 87's

Saw 1-DRF, 2-Mastermind, 3-Paragon.

Both saw 2 and 3 were non decomp jugs. Saw 1 (mine) is a decomp. Saw 3 has the lowest exhaust which (I believe) made it the strongest. I believe it's at 108*. Eric's is 103, mine 101.

I'm wondering now if that made any of the difference.

Really is amazing how close all 3 saws were with the numbers so far apart. But that does seem to be the theme lately, numbers less important than port shape and size...

91 also. I had to replace piston and cylinder as the two were scored real bad. Never paid the recoil sticker much attention though I have seen the air injection ones. I know it is a good running saw though. It probably will remain what it is, a shelf queen. I have a 261/262 that runs real good that I bring to the woods with me. Its good to see @drf255 that that 87 has been put to some good use instead of undergoing the knife!!

Al, was that MM saw running a bit rich? It didn't cut bad though. I see what they mean when they say they can run fat and still cut good. I had a 262 that was tuned about 12.9k that would cut like a banshee. Good to know.

If the transfers have larger capacity (all the way), a larger carb is more likely to help...
I didnt check the upper transfer that much, just the opening numbers, 48ZN15 had different number by huge margin.
One of those days I gotta check them more with the wheel.
My eyes tells me that those uppers isnt 100% the same shaped either.

If flow do mather on the lower transfer it's very easy to see by eye whitch one has a better flow, that difference is just monster huge, KS is just so smooth there.

Btw, this thread probleby raised the value of KS jugs now :D

One other thing to think about -- my saw has a 20" bar whereas I think the other two are 18" ??? Not sure if that was considered.
I like the 20" on a strong 262. I think it's true they can make your 70cc saw unnecessary!
Here the best dyno run of my 262. Solid north of 6HP from 11250 to 8500. All of those saws probably producing 6HP or more peak.

Both the MM and mine were a little rich. Eric keeps his tuned at 14k, and mine was on the first tank.
