Randy swapped a 199 into a 262. It was the same bore size as the 87 I have here. He did a thread on the swap on this site.
I have a bunch of 262 jugs here, including a non-decomp KS. There's not much space between the case and the jug on a 262. If you've built one you know. Put the jug one backwards while you've got the degree wheel on it and it won't fit. The flywheel side tunnel has an indent in it for the flywheel. I'd venture to say that the tunnels are the same size in all of the jugs. There may be subtle differences in the shapes though.
I can tell you first hand that an 87 makes a PORTED 262 a different saw over a 120/144. On a stock saw, it very well may do nothing at all.
When we ran 3-262's at the CT GTG
@paragonbuilder hosted, mine had a 144 on it while the other two saws had 87's. My saw was the slowest of the three by a bunch. I swapped in the 87 I bought and my saw was right in between the two saws. The saw with the lowest exhaust and the 87 was the fastest. All 3 were neck and neck to the point where a chain coulda made one outshine another.
I did buy the plates for the conversion.
@super3 has done the job in the past. I have my 87 off the saw for measurements and comparisons for when I attempt it.
@rjames is getting the first one for the 262 I ported for him.
Anyone know how to get the nozzle out of the carb?
