*heavy sigh*
Farmers I was dropping some trees for had one for sale. He had it from new and it had done seriously little work and in great shape. I ran it to drop a tree too large for my saws. So smooth, lovely low-down torque. Loved it. They needed some money would let it go for, IIRC NZ$550 and I just didn't have the cash at that time so alerted an Ozzy anotherMothaBrotha and he paid and I sent it off to him. He rubs my nose in it at every chance he can get ;-)

That's exactly what this saw is.

One owner farmer who used it now and then for big tree trunks.

Got it for $100

Considering it has the same bore dia as a 395 but an extra 2mm of stroke, it should make some really good torque.

It has .055" of squish and the base gasket measures just under .030.

I am going to measure timing with and without the gasket now

Ok, but I want to be really sure that Its going to help it before I start grinding.

Pristine KS 2100 cylinders don't grow on trees.

I might widen the exhaust a smidge while I am in there

Got some 394 OEM rings.. Can chuck in the post on weds once found & probably have clutch too.

Maybe I am strange but wouldn't iy be better to keep exhaust port height as is, just widen them. Makes it still saleable as a milling saw.

Yeah I am wondering why the exhaust is so low?
My thinking is that it has a longer stroke to gain its added capacity, not wider bore so perhaps the extra exhaust is needed.

After some thinking I dont plan to grind on it at all until I have some solid clarification that its a good idea.

@Mastermind ...... do you have any experience with this model?

Got any 088 cranks ?

Only sitting in another saw waiting to goto the USA once that #*#"$" carb kit arrives.

Don't need another one do you? :)

Do have a bearing and pin from when I pressed a conrod out to go in a 3120.

*edit* oops my mistake Vince read 084 not 088 sorry. Will ask around.

They run good at around 100-99. 160-162 duration but you have to take the transfers up as well.
I usually run a 395 or 394 piston in them for their window design. Using these will bring the intake duration close to where you want it because of the shorter piston skirt.

I will be putting away at this saw in between the fix and flip saws which I need to move for some cash.
Tonight I attacked the muffler.

This perforated baffle is gone.

I used my dremel remote extension which has a small end to get in and cut out the top and bottom section of the baffle, leaving the mounting bolt supports in place.
It is now fully open inside.
I have never had a saw that ran better with a baffle and the bigger the saw, the more it holds them back IMO.

After I got it done, I thought I would go back in and tidy up the sharper edges, and the bit grabbed and sheared the end off the long spring drive line in the dremel remote handle. So now I have to look for a new one :(

I cleaned up the muffler on a wire wheel, cleaned up the screen on the top outlet which I will leave on and chipped all the buildup inside the muffler out.

I got to planning the baffle section for the front opening.
I dug out some of the @Red97 baffles I have and I am thinking I wull just trip the sides of one, drill some holes and bolt it on with a screen underneath.

I am thinking of pointing it down and cutting a slot in the bottom of the OEM muffler guard plate, which should help protect it from being bent in.

It wont see much abuse or time cutting near the ground so should work well.
