That's exactly what I found to be the case with the two brands of 288 cylinders, at least with older specimens. Josh's new current production OEM KS 288 cylinder is quite strong though.Generally the Mahle are closer to the numbers most porters want, also I believe the transfers are smaller in the KS, not certain if that's a + or a - though, guess that depends on the porters preference in how they like them shaped and what size.
Fresh rings and hone, all stock.
The seal collar fell apart, new one on order.
Couldn’t help myself, put it back together for a test run. My first 394. Perhaps it needs to break in but it wasn’t what I expected it to be.

32” round, freshly sharpened.32 or 36? Square or round?
If you go back up a ways my saw is a little bit of port work but will pull a 42 with a 8 pin in oversized fir and a 60” with a 7 pin all chains are square ground falling chains.

Yep, softwood and hardwood are different haha. Hard to tell dave but i feel like you could expect a little more from that too, but give it a couple tanks of fuel and see what happens. And put a 7 on it haha

I’m not stuck to it, I can bring it to Tennessee if you need another. In my experience I’ve had saws that break in quick and others just don’t. It may take two or three gallons of fuel to really get it run in good.
I need another 394/395. They are just a great saw for long bars, and I’ve got several big trees coming down soon.
