View attachment 83913 View attachment 83914 And I even talked him into a piston pic, story goes, original owner, used it for 1 year for firewood before moving to town, used it a year ago to cut down a tree for a friend. Now it's for sale.

Needless to say I'm working Saturday midnight shift and promptly leaving Sunday morning when I get off work to pick it up.

Best part my fiance offered to drive! She gets me...... :p
that 246 looks really good.
It seems for me that there is quite a bit carbon build up in the exhaust channel, you may consider to take a closer look on Sunday since the picture doesnt show much.
It looks for me to be one 95-96 model.

There does appear to be some carbon in there, I will clean it out when I get it and thoroughly inspect it. But it looks good enough to me I think I'll buy it anyway lol

The guy said he thought he bought it about 6 or 7 years ago. But he could be misremembering

The serial number starts with a 5, it's all one number not separated so probably a 95 model.

its OEM yes, and 241C is the same as mine 246 has.
I mixed those letters earlier in your thread.
Gilardoni and the Husky 42 special, 242, 246 serie
241A is 42 Special
241B is 242 (most 242 came with Mahles though)
241C is 246

Husky and 242/246 seals.
The two 242 xpg cat year 95 I got has the old type seals, some hard plastic ones with single lip seal.
My 242 xpg year 96 had updated PTO seal, old style flywheel seal.
My 246 year 98 had updated PTO and flywheel seal.

Please post up more pictures, we all like pics :D

I had a thread about them:

One thing I noticed Is the muffler outlet is in a piss poor location, but looking everywhere else, that's the only spot.

It also looks like it's pretty restrictive

well, your guys has a better muffler to modd compared against the european one, here we has to split them to get out most of the junk inside lol
My outlet is 185mm2 on my ported 246, and around 165mm2 on 242.

A good MM, give it advanced timing (1/2 the key is where I go), dremel up the size of airfilter trouth, if you drop the jug you may have to sand the squish band a tad, mine was around 12th before I sanded
