Get yourself some cheap China chains and have at it. Even if you destroy them your not out to much money.Oh, I've done it. Just not correctly. LOL
I will get it. Just continuing to get more information to try and hone the skill. LOL Thanks guys.
Jeff here is some lgx round I just did and works great like this for working. This may be what @Redfin was saying. Just file enough to get a good corner and go from there. You don’t have to file so much, corner is everything.Oh, I've done it. Just not correctly. LOL

Pretty close. Sometimes they end up with less side plate than that. Ill normally stop as soon as I get a good corner under the top plate.View attachment 93699

Try finding a vintage Graberg bar mount guide. You can get them off eBay for around $15. The G-108 or G-104 are good options. Someone posted a video a few pages back showing it. The old ones accept a double bevel file. The angle adjustments are endless, at least for a work chain. Set it up by matching the angles of a chain that has been properly filed/ground. I, as well as others here would gladly send you a chain to compare by.What about that square file guide? Anyone use it or try it?
How much longer do you have it for, or did you splurge? This technique works best for me
Nope. No splurging yet.How much longer do you have it for, or did you splurge?
