How to square file

The three corner is a bit thicker than the flat file, this makes it harder to do chain smaller than 3/8

Granberg/Oregon file guide, converted to do square. I used two 7/16 nut drivers to hold the file. It was a great way to learn to square file, it let me make little adjustments at a time and once I got the hang of it muscle memory started to take over. I now have a silvey, but can now do touch ups in the field free-hand. Here are some pics

Getting the 404 squared up. Not much side plate yet. Going to try it like this if I've got something that will pull it.

40° on the black dial,30° on the grey , you then have to play with the file to get the side close to 90°. I run the chain stop out as far as possible. You then adjust the height to get the corner right.
