I think the PFERD works well, but I have not tried the others, just no complaints.

I got them from junkman.
I will say the stihl was the best out of all I've used but it's the only one I've ever seen and I've looked a lot
My stihl engineer neighbor gave it to me and he said he can't find them either in there computer.

I must be the oddball I guess. My file, a save edge double bevel, files left cutters ok, but it's hard to see the point right handed. But I can't get it to file right cutters. It doesn't grab anything to file off. Almost like the tooth is harder. I had tree monkey file a chain on DDaves 441 at the MI gtg and he noticed the same thing. He filed the right cutters inside out and it worked fine. We both think it's the angled teeth on the file. Any merit to this theory?

Looked last night and couldn't find any straight vallorbe
I have the same thing happen with save edge and vallorbe. Thinking chain but can't figure it out. I need to try with a new chain to rule out over heating one side with square grinder.

I thought that at first too. But it's on every chain I've tried. Even older ones that were never ground on. If I go inside out, right cutters sharpen fine. I emailed save edge, just waiting for a 2nd reply.

I've had it happen and found its me trying to file at the wrong angle,I move around or pick up till it starts cutting.
I think it's from getting the side plate to high but I don't know much about it.

Ok, I just touched up chain and did the left side from the inside out and it worked quite well, I will try this some more.

Yep. Right hand cutters file like file is dull. Left hand cutter file very smooth. Even with new files of two different brands. I am also using an ATOP guide not free hand. So angle should be the same.

How do you like the ATOP

I have one but need different files

Sent from my non internal combustion device.

I've noticed this problem on rakers, the chain I sent to Dan's gtg was that way

Yep.
I believe it's just the angle your holding a file,I've had it happen and that's what my problem was

It's gotta be, there is nothing different about the raker or tooth from side to side
