I think the round file EXL was just a tick faster than the square. Nice.
To be fair, the square filed chain did hit a big knot in the log and ash knots are no jokes.
I broke my dragon slayer ax custom made oak handle trying to split one.

Also, the rakers have not been touched on that square filed chain and I haven't checked where they are at after the loop got converted from round ground to square filed.

But yeah, round filed performed quite well.

Generally speaking, square filed chains like the rakers a bit lower than round filed.
It should cut much better with a couple swipes off each raker.

I noticed how easy the saw starts.

Also, the Sugi/round filed video shows deep ridges in the kerf. To people that know a lot more than me, that is a big deal.As in, not a good thing...

Is the chain loose in the bar groove?

The Makita/square filed kerf is way smoother.

Cute pup!

Chains are basically new in both videos square and round EXL.
But the SugiHara bar has seen a fair amount of hard work so it is possible it is showing signs of wear compared to the Makita bar which is brand new.

I am not into racing nor do I turn the wood into anything but firewood, as such I can live with a bucking cut surface that is not perfectly flat.
All I want is a well biting, fast cutting chain.
Even while generating those ridges round filed EXL was quite fast.

The pup is my mom's, she is a heartbreaker
One look from her and I drop all work to focus my attention on her.
