Trying to reassemble our Stihl FS70 and cannot get the case to close. Something seems to blocking at the handle/engine case junction.

Attaching is a photo composite to illustrate.
Also, this link to short video showing the pivot point.
I'm stumped.
Advice and shared experience appreciated.

I discover the wiring slot that runs under the shaft into which the control wires "snap".
Fixed that, however, still no joy with a snug cover fit.
Then I noticed the "tab" on the cover that is supposed to fit the "slot" in the shaft (see attached Pic), and keep the shaft from roating.
At first I lined them up but still no fit, then pulled the shaft out a bit to hear the klick indicating a proper seat.
Voila! All it well.
Could not find anything definitive regarding this reassembly on youTube, so hope this helps anyone with similar future issue.

Welcome to the forums!! Good deal, glad to hear you figured out the magic combination to get everything aligned just right. Some things are straight forward and others take some finagling!

Welcome to the forum! As a side note, i have found when reassembling the stihl clamshell trimmers (fs38-70) that its much easier to do so with the shaft removed, and insert the shaft after you have all the screws part way in.
