I found 2 electrical extension cords plugged into my outside receptacle the other day, so I followed them into the treeline wondering who was stealing electric way out here?

I see 4 or 5 box fans up the hill in the distance, so I walked over to check em out.
Turns out that is where the deer were bedding!
Smart!
That's how hot it is here.

However hot it is currently wherever you’re at, ramp it up a notch or ten when Aug/Sept hits…that’s the way Ga does it. And that concrete and asphalt jungle they call a flightline is an unforgiving mf’r when those months roll in!

Try the local junkyard. Just like your place too hot to touch in the summer and you will freeze to death in the winter winds. Nothing but cold metal everywhere. It's fun touching those silver skins outside I'd bet.

@USMC615 has it correct. I second the airport ramp as the hottest place around. During the summer you get no wind unless a storm comes up, it’s just ridiculous hot. During the winter you get wind…..
it’s colder than crap. Shade is not always convenient at my airport so I wear a wide brim lightweight “Tilley” hat to keep my head from burning. We say there’s nowhere colder in the winter nor hotter in the summer than the ramp. I’ve lived there a long time and it’s getting a bit tougher each year. It’s more of a young mans game nowadays.

The junkyard has the added bonus of the metal heating the wind row after row. In a cross wind it just gets hotter and hotter. Low stacks are the worse in summer sun. High stacks in the winter get no sun and it's a frozen wasteland of wind rows. Terrible place to work in. Bees, ants, glass, jagged metal, nasty grease and pissed of critters.

It’s just miserable hot on the flightline in the summertime as you know, and just crazy cold in the winter unless the workload is all inside the C-17 hangars. And I agree completely, at 54 yrs old now…it’s definitely a younger mans’ game and world.
