…in the middle of a big log.
…in the middle of a big log.
I throw a temper tantrum and curse a lot, then I grab a different saw or the backup chain. My grinder will take care of the rocked chain when I get the time.…in the middle of a big log.
Bytch and moan about it for a couple seconds. Then get back to work with a fresh chain. Figure out how to finish the cut with a wedge and sawsall if need be.

I'd say plunge-cutting with your worn-out chains then continuing with the 42 seems like the best option to me.We’re talking 42” bar .404 stuff here. Don’t want to wreck more cutters. I hit it months ago and just left it until the weather cooled. I’m not sure where the nail is. I wish I had gone ahead and cut a little more to be reasonably sure I was thru that nail.
I was thinking about attacking from either side with some almost worn out semi chisel 20”
Chains.
Or the Raisman semi 42” isn’t sharp but isn’t dull…maybe finish with it as it is just in case and then sharpen. It’s full comp and I have a skip loop but it’s full chis and will get more wrecked.
