How do you get this....

Freakin air filter holder off this carb on a 271. ALL my sockets, t handles, and nut drivers are to big for the recess. Does the Stihl 8mm t handle socket wrench do it? I hate these fuki* new clamshells, or clamshells period. Thanks.

Yes, it is an 8 mm socket - skinny socket. I got one for about $10, ends up working great on a lot of saws with 8 mm nuts.

Get a cheap 8mm or 5/16 deep 1/4 drive socket. Chuck the socket up in a drill and turn it down on a bench grinder. Just go slow with light pressure. I’ve done this to countless sockets when I needed a thinner sidewall.

Me too - I had to make a couple for the MS-241s.

And also me. I put the socket on the end of an extension when I was close to done to kind of even out the grind, but other than that the same.

Unfortunately I don't have a lathe yet, but I do have a friend who worked on race cars and he said that they would turn their sockets to make them fit!!
