Freakin air filter holder off this carb on a 271. ALL my sockets, t handles, and nut drivers are to big for the recess. Does the Stihl 8mm t handle socket wrench do it? I hate these fuki* new clamshells, or clamshells period. Thanks.

Get a cheap 8mm or 5/16 deep 1/4 drive socket. Chuck the socket up in a drill and turn it down on a bench grinder. Just go slow with light pressure. I’ve done this to countless sockets when I needed a thinner sidewall.
Exactly what I did :p

Me too - I had to make a couple for the MS-241s.

Darn, so much good advice here, something new for me.

Now I know why they told me a long time ago, never part away with your old beat up sockets.
