The HD type OEM filters, fit all the bigger pro saws the same, 440-880.

How come the K&N will only fit the 440?
Because the rain cover seals the open end ,no steel plate like the stock one has ,and its too thick to fit the black flange the hd2 seals against like the 460-461-660 have .

It works on the flat top 064 and 066 also with the hd filter setup .K&n stihl 440 filter 001.jpg K&n stihl 440 filter 002.jpg k&n ms440 1.3 hours .404 11-10-16 002.jpg

That's right. We've got time to spend an hour dicking around with the air filter after every four minutes of runtime ... but we don't have the 5 minutes it takes to fix it once and for all. Job security!

You know what, you're absolutely right...everybody should go to the lawn and garden store after they leave the stihl dealer to buy rubber cock rings for the filtration system of a 1000 dollar chainsaw...I wonder why everyone doesn't know that to begin with ?

You know what, you're absolutely right! It's the principle of the thing!

So instead of spending 25¢ and three minutes to fix the problem once and for all, you should just say FUKKIT I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO FIX IT ... and run it the way it is ... and then burn up your $1000 saw simply because your air filter flops around in its housing like an empty beer can in a bucket at the beach.

THAT'LL SHOW THOSE AWFUL, EVIL STIHL ENGINEERS!!!1!1!!
