Good morning!

It is good to get a full ration of sleep for once. Since I left teaching, I have gotten off of all five medicines I was on just to cope with the unhealthy environment. I thought I'd never sleep without meds again, but I'm doing it. Thanking God for this huge blessing.
The Primate is playing with his cars, singing, and today we plan to go to some farm in Overland Park, a good place for kids. Should be a good day.

Okay, I drove to the first site this morning to see how it will be to drive in a 2wd vehicle. It is through a gate, then below a barn on a bit of a slope, through a wooded / brushy area and up a hill to where the trees are down. I made it partway up the hill before needing 4wd in my '06 Dodge with no weight in the back. On top of the hill there is decent sized level area to turn vehicles and trailers without getting too crowded. The trees up there are 32" diameter or more at the base and already down. Most are in good or fair places to work.

I think the best plan will be for everyone to meet at the lunch site and see who wants to drive the pig trail up to the big trees. There are other places where 4wd is not required. I will talk to the family here about having a tractor with a bucket close by to help with rounds if needed.

I spent my ,working on "Old Unreliable", my second hand, homemade wood splitter. Different engine and a new hydraulic pump, I'll try to get it finished and running tomorrow after worship.

Now I remember why I don't like to do mechanical and fabrication work - I hurt all over and the finished project NEVER looks as good as what I had in mind.

My projects never turn out as I imagined them. I was told a long time ago by my wood shop teacher, "If it works, you probably did it right."

For me - if it works the first time it probably means it's seconds away from going critical and blowing engine and hydraulic parts across the yard.
