I once painted a whole front clip of a 79 dodge power wagon of a buddy's with the rustoleum hard hat black paint n a rattle can. Took 2.5 cans and stayed shiny until he sold the truck years later.

I've got a 93 Explorer I bought about 8 years ago. It's clear coat was peeling like an old sun burn. Son and I sanded it enough to clean up the clear coat and rough up the rest. Wiped it down with paint prep and shot it with satin black Krylon. Masked off only the glass, sprayed everything else, trim and all. Still going strong. Looks like a CIA surveillance vehicle.
