Drove to work this morning, about a 10 minute drive. About 10 rain drops hit the windshield in 10 minutes. Had the windows down and the smell of rain was in the air. It was nice and cool with plenty of rain clouds, but the clouds never turned it (the rain) loose. Just a teaser, I guess mother nature was waiting to dump on AR or MO.

It rained. Due to poor urban planning of infrastructure items such as storm drainage, in KC rain is generally occasion for a crisis due to water covering roads and entering buildings. Fairly predictable outcome for Kansas City.

Reminds me of a time New Orleans got an honest 10" rainfall. It's below sealevel and all excess water has to be pumped out. It flooded badly and the citizens were outraged because they had just had a bond issue they voted on and the pumps were upgraded. They were ready to hang the city manager. The manager got on the TV and calmly explained that they had passed a bond issue to upgrade the pumps to handle a 6" rain event. They got 10" but the pumps had worked flawlessly handling 6" of it. No apologies from him. You got what you payed for.
