Had to educate a Homie owner this AM. He was getting several suggestions on his Fairbanks-Morse starter and ignoring my original suggestion to "just flip the darn thing over and it will work fine". Pulled a matching saw out and took it apart to show him finally. We'll see what happens now. If not, I'll sick Carl on him. .

People get them all sorts of wrong. First they oil the friction washers which is exactly what NOT to do. Next they bend on the fingers and that don't work.

Clean, dry washers, end of fingers sharpened 45 degrees but not shortened just narrowed. Max pressure from the spring! Prick punch the inside of the cup every 1/16"-3/32".

Pretty sure it's an 026 cylinder in the pile. Measures 44mm and it has a compression release port. Getting rid of mountain of pallets this afternoon for an 024.

New Stihl RS, leaned on it like a gear drive, and didn't even come close to bogging down. Might try upping the chain speed now or maybe I'll leave well enough alone. [emoji5]

Will semi chisel 404 chain cut better/faster in hard frozen white oak crotches than full chisel? I tried some semi chisel full skip 404 today on a 50 inch bar and was amazed at how fast I went through the log. All I wanted to do was stretch the chain and had to pull out some more big wood because it was cutting so fast. Chain was oregon 27AX 140 drive links with 7 pin rim on 3120. Getting saw and chain ready for a large bur oak at the end of the week.

Too cold in the garage but if I get another Farmertec 'saw kit' I can put it together in the house. (No fuel stink.)

But what to get? Another 361 or a MS440?
440 kit is sixty bucks more.
