Dad found a few about a week ago. I used to find some in my yard in the past. Fried crappie, hot rolls and morels are a nice meal.
Bad Ankle slows down the walk-a-bouts. I remember many a good seasons.
One was a Pink haze after a snow in mid April. We followed some deer tracks deer that were nibbling chunks of mushrooms popping out of the snow; No Humongous ones and had to go dump the sacks in the truck box and go fetch more a few times. My friends Dad and step brother had been successful the day before ....(.and before the snow) We never planned on mushrooms we were planning on logging..

Lots of rain here again this morning. I haven’t looked at the gauge.

Tough night last night, had a 23 y/o nephew take his own life. Left behind 2 little girls ages 2years & 6 months.

My brother is in rough shape.
Certainly leaves a SAD and Empty spot in the innerds.
Had a good friend of 30 years down the street left all of US this way last October.
Regardless how many times I have seen this or hear of it, It is still devastating.
AS ALWAYS
PRAYERS for ALL.

Good afternoon. Been tinkering around in the shop trying to organize it which isn't going very well. 🙄
Just finished going through a Super 1050. When I picked it up it would just barely turn over when you pulled as hard as you could because the crank bearings were locking up. I put new rings, bearings, seals and gaskets in it and it's a runner again.
Also got a Ford chainsaw which is actually an O&R. It was provided as an option for a Ford Camper Special pickup in 1970 and was mounted under the hood on the driver side fender.PXL_20260411_144618525.jpg

Never heard tell of such a thing, that is pretty cool. Thanks for sharing that.

That saw would be much more useful than the jacks that they mount under the hoods…

We had another .15” overnight, guessers are saying no rain again until Tomorrow afternoon/evening.

Planning on spraying the yard for dandelions & henbit. Probably should have cooked it last fall but it’s getting done now.

English plantain is a pain around here. My wife complains that it makes her legs break out. I tend to give it a Duracor bath if it gets too thick.

Weeds are just God's way of trying to cover the dirt. Healthy grass doesn't let weeds live long. Henbit, dandelion, and clover are good early food sources for bees. Save your money and overseed and fertilize in fall. Aerate in spring. There's a time and a place for herbicides, that ain't it.

Morning all, 70° to 80°. Back to the dentist for permanent crown finally today. Found a cow dead yesterday morning, month old calf. I took out the metal detector to look to see if it had been shot but looks like a chance of an ingested wire, steel/iron only showing up. Had to get to work so didn't cut her open to check and the weather is too warm to wait. These things happen but now there is a bottle baby in the corral to feed every morning and night now.
