Morning all, 45° now to high of 56°. Rain forecast everyday for over the next week, needed but makes the job slower.

Be like the PNW for the next few days. in this area. I still can't believe that nuts were out on jet skis this time of year. I have a ladder in the boat for when I am by myself. It gets attached to a cleat in the back of the boat because I know how critical it is to get out of the water.
The water temps even in the 50’s yet?

Finally put the splitter out of commission..
been delaying doing a rebuild, but a gnarly hedge round helped move it up on the list of things to do.
Ol’ Scrap Iron finally gave up?
That must have been one evil hedge round.

50's yesterday, last nice day as the next week as chances of rain/snow everyday. Was able to get out and turn this 20260215_110319.jpg into this. 20260228_174340.jpg Pretty much did me in working up that heavy crap. Still need to get better at cutting to length as some are 24". They should fit the stove but I may have to cut them down to fit better as the stove is only rated at 22" max.

Had a tremor a tad past 1;00 (PM Central time) Felt it in the back of my Lazy chair. Both critters accounted for then friend a few blocks away called to ask if we just had an earthquake. Sis in law 90 miles north of me (Omaha) said her C phone acted up ( She is always bouncing around so would never realize a tremor) Just wondering if any one else noticed.

Matt

Is this the same splitter that was damaged at Scott’s about 11 years ago?

More carnage, only about 3 of them fell over by themselves. Most were twisted together up top. The mental gymnastics on fall direction, pressure from other trees was exhausting. Most were 3-5 trees at a time.

Hackberry grown up into this bruiser, it will be interesting. One of 2 left to cut but they will wait until other crap has been cleaned up.

Damn big mulberry, lots of btu’s in there but I don’t have time to mess with it.

Then there was this blight on the landscape turning in the background. Noisy obnoxious things.

I would catch a blade in my peripheral & think something was falling or I was about to get whacked. Real treat when are hunkered down making your felling cuts IMG_1880.jpeg
