Morning all, 25° and high of 39° today. Legs last night told me how they felt about being on and off the tractor all day yesterday. As soon as it gets light I'll head down and see if the girls decided to test the fence repairs. Couple years back the renter to the west dropped some calves and some of them went straight through the newest fence on the place. Dad came out and helped him fix it just to watch them circle back around and hit the fence in a different place at full speed again. He gets some crazies from time to time.

Got down to +6f, currently at +8f heading to mid-20's for the day. Had the furnace off during the nice days and still off. Got down to 63 inside with just the stove so I feel that's pretty good with the stove in the basement and 3,000sf. Talking 0 tonight but may just leave the stove off and see what happens.

Cold wind started coming up after I pushed some more up this morning. Fingers didn't like it one bit. Watching from house right now before heading to my parents to make sure it dies down. And something needs to learn a little respect. Have to carry something with me if I am out later today.

They were..

Im gonna get some more of em..

Are you making a trip?
I can talk to my nephew about picking some up if he comes back down this way when they are open. He has a girlfriend over Springfield area now so he may be back and forth a little more often. I know it will be at least two weeks before he will be back down here though.

Is that sassafras large by sassafras standards? Seems huge to me. The cherry around here seems to have darker bark, but very similar

They will get much larger if left alone and disease doesn't get to them. They mostly come up in fence rows around here so they tend to get cut out. Missouri's largest is in Monett's south park.
