Last night I was talking to someone that has made some furniture from honey locust and according to him, it’s one of his favorite woods. Also his dad made some bowls from it.

Oh, it does mill nice.
But still a horrible tree.

Curious how others deal with these spiny bishes? We have more than our share in the wooded parts of the farm, and can drop those without too much fanfare, but are hesitant to drop the mature ones in the pasture since the thorns will pop tires and never seem to rot on the ground.
Maybe strategically place diesel and tires around the base and turn it into a huge roman candle, or are there better ways?

Don't forget to treat the stump or you'll get a million root sprouts with extra thorns. Milestone is way more effective than tordon on honey locust. A 10% solution in water sprayed on the outside inch of the stump will get 99% resprout control. I can't find the study but iirc tordon was around 50% control.

I'd add spray the wound all the way around. Works anytime except for when the sap is coming up. The sap can flush the chemical out of the cambium.
