In august, it’ll liquify and evaporate..

But with wood you need it to reach EMC..
Equilibrium Moisture Content.
That is: as dry ass a piece of wood can get given the moisture content of your air..
Best we can do in this part of the country is about 12% MC..
but…
That same wood could reach 11% after a prolonged low humidity condition.
Like maybe what we’ve experienced this last 2 weeks, so it may reach its lowest moisture in the winter.
In the freezer (January) it will sublime, lol

I understand what you and Tony are saying. Will wood season if frozen? Yes. Will it season as quickly/efficiently in sub-freezing temperatures as it will in hot temperatures)? No, not in my opinion. Will it get to 11% MC? Eventually. The evaporation process is much faster than the sublimation process. If it weren't, we would not have kilns to dry wood, we would have freezers instead.

Will wood season quicker in Yuma AZ, or Umiat, AK?

Or SUMMIT County Colorado. High altitude 9,000 to 12?000ft above sea level and Semi Arid conditions. Temps can vary 30 or 50*F in a real short time ..

I know this: if I take an ice cube out of my freezer in August and put it in my driveway, it evaporates much quicker than if I leave it in my freezer and wait for it to sublime away. You should do an experiment and see how long it takes to sublime...
Your freezer is also a closed environment where humidity levels can only reach a certain point because of limited physical space. Throw a few splits of oak in a plastic tote and seal it up and see how long they take to season.
Side note what kind of snacks do you like. If people are going to travel on the 21st I can make sure that there are things on hand out in the field for whoever feels peckish. I also have permission to do a little work on west field so I saw some hedge that need to be cleaned up in a few places. I'll try to have them cut and in the field as well by then.

If anyone plays 6.0 powerstroke, I can highly recommend a 6.4 starter. Got that done tonight and truck fires up faster than it ever has. It is aftermarket so fingers crossed on it lasting for a bit. Going to do it to the farm truck at some point as well.

I can do my own snacks. Breakfast will be more than enough

Had to double take yesterday in suburb of Joplin when I saw a goat grazing in someones yard. See plenty of deer there. Wish I had taken pictures of place I delivered to today. They had been cutting trees for several years, I would assume for stove, and every stump had a sloping back cut. Guess they thought it helped them.
