I cut hedge for a few hours today. They fight back...
A pole saw is your friend & great weapon on those.

Then of coarse a skid loader with a grapple is also involved in a good battle plan.

A great battle plan would include the heavies, an excavator & a bulldozer. I think this may be called “The Hedgerow Battle Plan “.

@plcnut did this with their well a year or so ago, iirc.
We have had a few well challenges...
Put over $15K in the original well.

Then we ended up drilling a new one.
The hole is 795'.
I believe the pump is at 780'.
It was over $30K.
3hp pump to try and push the water out of the hole.
Had to have galvanized pipe because of the weight and torque of the pump.
I am thankful every time I open the faucet and it works.
It is not any fun to go without water.

Morning all, 4° and still falling. No new snow here at the house that I can tell this AM. Got to make a farm supply run to Atwoods for some lick tubs while they are a bit cheaper after feeding time. Stay warm.

Should be easier on the 21st. Did some walking yesterday morning to see what needs cut and where best to cut the fence to work both sides. Should be interesting.

Supposed to hit 21° today. We can make sure to load you up with what you want to take back on the 21st as well. If we need to take some extra hedge from other places in the field to get you guys loaded up. Got some overhanging limbs that will need to go away as it is on two other fences and I am sure the neighbor that rents the west field will have no problems with some going missing along that fence as well.
There’s always a little blood letting with every one of em.
All you can do is mitigate it.
Don't need much in this weather to have the blood flow. Boxes and cold take the moisture from my hands so the smallest thing will open the skin.

Good morning y’all
It definitely fights back. I’ve considered bringing my pole saw to get through the little stuff with minimal bloodshed. No cutting for me this weekend though. F250 started overheating driving in to the north wind last night! The water pump has been leaking so I can inly assume that it’s failed completely.

I’m burning some in the stove right now..
It likes to fight when ya open the door..
It likes to shoot burning balls of fire at you.
I have some that was cut last February. Cut to length in the last month. I’m a little worried about those balls of fire so I’ll save it for next year.

This stuff was cut 2 years ago and been split and stacked for 12-13 months.
It’s even somewhat straight grained,.
Don’t seem to matter. It still spits.. but only when you crack the door open.

One of our daughters & her minions arrived last night for the weekend. A set of twin girls age 5 & a boy age 2.

I had a ‘Shining’ moment about 4am this morning as the door to the bedroom creaked open & 2 heads silently appeared from the other side of the bed.

No words for about 30 seconds then “Grammy, Grammy, Grammy” back & forth between them for about about 30 seconds or so before I sat up & asked what they wanted (that may be paraphrasing).

I am sure that they will have pleasant dreams about that experience…

Then Grammy got up & hauled them off to points unknown.

Soft & cuddly when woken up @ 4am I am not.
