Figure out which Saturday in February works best for everybody. I'm open to 7, 14, or 21. White bass will start schooling on Stockton late Feb/early March and I think Matt needs a lot of fish to clean. Need to have Derek and Sam along with Steve, who has trouble catching anything, meet me on the ramp one day. They school in open water before the spawn about 10 to 20 feet under the surface and last year we had a blast chasing them around the lake.
I am out the 7th

21st then? Have to watch and not make a mud run out of it. Thinking it over, just need to drop and cut to manageable size to move with tractor. Bring over to my side and then limb and load what people want. I can clean up in the evenings since we will have more light after work with the time change. Still have enough cold weather left that people will still want the hedge for firewood. Sap will still be down and I was wondering will that make it better for milling and drying?

Sap down is definitely better for lumber.

Morning all, no temperature today, 0°. Supposed to be 20° for the high and above freezing on Wednesday. Loaded the stove and drinking coffee. Looks like the 21st is the best day, I'll inform the neighbors that they will be invaded.
21st would work.

I would like to try and make it.
Sounds good Chet. Main thing for you northern guys is going to be the weather.

I been using up some unusual firewood the last week or so..

The 2 year cherry ended up a solid 6.5..
Heat output was good, just filled up the stove with klinkers too fast.

The Ash I got into has been in the back barn for 2 years or so, it’s never seen rain.

Gonna give it about an 8.5 -9 as far as performance..

Are you sure about the sap not running towards the end of February? It seems like I have been sapped in February before.

I'd be liken weather like that. Compared to our last near 2 weeks that would seem like nearly a spring thaw.

It's still a bit colder than I'd prefer . . .

Some will flow during the warmer days but drop back when it is cold.
Hedge can sap any time.
This.
I'm out for Feb fun. Prepping for FL vacation.

Note on previous conversation. Eye of round is preferred cut for dried beef and pastrami making. Recipe is similar to bacon curing.
Planning on Oct. 3 for just another sitting around and eating/shooting day. Think like reunion instead of work day.

Morning all, 18° and supposed to make it to 30°. Tomorrow they are calling for above freezing but time will tell. Schools are still shut down around here because of the back roads, probably most of the rural will be closed until Thursday. Coffee and stove for a bit longer then have to start the day.
