Set the slicer to about a 1.5 and sent it.
Time to make some horseradish sauce.
And some Ajou sauce for dipping.

Key word for eye of round is “chewable”..

It’s the most perfect looking cut of beef, but least tender.. no cooking method seems to suit it.
But…
Smoke it about 225 till internal temp hits 130, wrap it up and chill.
Then let the slicer do the chewing. Deli thin.

It tastes like a smoked prime rib.

Ventured out a couple hours ago to put a heater on the tractor oil pan for a bit. Been just a light snow coming down so far, cold so easy to sweep off the steps right now. As long as it doesn't get packed things should be decent. I'll break out the leaf blower to clean up a little more. Haven't made waffles for a while so I think while the coffee is percolating through my veins I'll get started on that while it gets lighter to feed the cows.

Good to get ideas on this, because we eat more eye of round than any other cut of beef on account of it's usually the lowest price per pound.

Morning folks.

-23f overnight, but stayed nice and almost to toasty with the stove getting fed.
Looking like we'll get above 0f Sunday during the day, 4.5 days below is enuf.

The overnights are still forecasted at below 0f for the next 5 days with a couple of them being double digit chillouts.

I'm hoping that this is the only annual cold snap, we get at least one every year it seems. So much for global warming.

It fired right up, but didn’t like me doing that..

There’s just a huge difference when it’s almost zero. Picked a big pine log out of the pile..

I’m gonna firewood it just to have a pine stash.

This new tractor has a grid heater that automatically counts down before starting in cold weather. Fired right up with no problems now that it has decent pre-treated diesel in it. Stuff they had in it last year when I got it would gel at 30°. Main thing is warming up the hydraulics since it uses them for shifting the power reverser. May throw the heater on the gear case tonight before bed to help that along.

Wife’s car started right up at 12:30 AM after sitting in a motel parking lot for a week. It was -25 and she was lucky it was still there after all the craziness in the area. I told her to maybe motel it for another night, but……. Pulled in here at 3:20. AM.

You probably have all this crap figured out or researched but I will babble away anyway.

A lot of those Deeres had plugs for the block & transmission/hydraulics. It took a special round plug on a 3’-4’ cord with a built in circuit breaker.

The outlets were under the left hand door.

Dads 7330 had both, his 6155 has both. Chases 6110 only has the block plug.

Block heaters & transmission/hydraulic heaters are probably a special order thing.

If I am thinking correctly those Deeres are equipped with an intake manifold heater, turn the key to the right one click & push in for 20-30 seconds.

Chases 7810’s & my brothers 7410 just have the block heater plug on the side of the block & the intake manifold heater with the key switch.
