Morning all, 16° with maybe going to about 50°. Coffee and stove right now before cows and work. Guessers just dropped the high for Saturday to 11°. Maybe I'll start work on tax receipts this weekend.

Got a call on the way in that work has an extra body. Filled my car and returned home. As soon as the temps rise a little bit I will get out and fix the fence, cut a little dead wood, treat all the diesel in the vehicles and haul a little hay. Been a bit of a running conversation for some time about how I end up working more and harder on days off from the regular job.

Good morning crew. It was -9f just b4 sunup, now at +1f with near zero wind for a nice break.
Claiming to see low teens later today to overnight, which might be enough of a temp swing to trigger one of those nunisance snows.

And then there is the temp drop claimed for the other side of the very brief warming for a day or so.

Good morning y’all. I picked up an MS440. Full wrap and a brand new 25 inch bar. That makes 4 70cc class saws now. I’ve never had a saw with a full wrap handle so I’m looking forward to cutting with it.

Unfortunately, this sassafras will have to go away for the fencing project and other like it. Few trees at parents have bigger diameter but not the height like this. Oddly enough the Missouri champion sassafras is in a park in Monett. Just looked it up for curiosities sake.

Is it millable? I've never sawn any of that stuff.

No idea. Seems to be a bit softer when cutting green but if it retains it's smell like cedar does you could make some root beer smelling furniture.
Well, if you see a decent sawlog or two you don't mind saving, I'd likely be interested.

Morning all, 40° and rising right now. Supposed to hit about 50° again today and tomorrow before it gets stupid cold.

Will do. What size diameter are you looking at to saw? Most of what will come out of her will be under a foot but there are some larger trees that will get the cut, cherry, maybe walnut and cedar. Be some larger hedge as well that I will stack out as I have time.

I don't mind sawing dinky logs if it's something interesting like sassafras.
Cherry or walnut probably 10" minimum to be worth messing with, cedar, down to 6" if it a nice straight stick.
I like a minimum of 8' length.....but, buggers can't be choosers.

When I get hard into it I will leave them as long as possible. Been looking at it and I need to cut the fence and put in a panel to drive the tractor between the fields so I can just pickup the trees with the clamp on the front loader.
