3-degrees currently so thought I would try an experiment and see if 7-year-old locust would burn. This morning, I can say that yes, it will burn.
Black Locust or Honey Locust ?

It certainly is nice have some dry high btu firewood to heat things up on a morning like today.

Just a wild guess the first thing that comes to mind is a coopers plane. Might be called a croze plane as well. Think putting the groove inside the barrel to fit the lid.
A pretty good wild guess.... I believe that is precisely what it is.
Thank you Einstein. 😁

And, last evening....

A bit of additional freezing going on. And that's even with old glory flapping from the south this morning.

Wednesday morning

Glad I got some of the wood piles that will be used this year tarped before the claimed snows starting later today.

I mix all locust together, and black is harder to find around here. I know there is some mixed in so maybe a 50/50 mix.

Conversations with the boy have been all over the place for a while. How many others have to have discussions about Einstein's theory of relativity and the duality of light, i.e. wave /particle. I admit I'm a bit rusty on this off the top of my head and trying to explain about his insistence of time travel possibilities with increased velocity approaching C(speed of light). I wish I were kidding in one sense, but I am not. Not the usual household conversations.

Chilly 24° right now, waiting for the stove to ramp up a bit. Taking a quick break from work in the morning for a boat ride, need to check with neighbor to see if he wants to go along. Last full moon walleye had moved up on points and I am curious if they will be there again even with the temp changes. Then cows to work and move back and forth between the parents and my place. Be safe today.

Those 730’s look a bit rough, I can stop & eyeball them on the way thru today if you want.

Looks like someone wants the one with the wide front.

Evening everybody.
At the Stamp for the weekend.
Had a couple of Dr appointments today. One of them was a barium swallow test. Basically you drink and eat various types of food that have radioactive barium in them and they watch how you swallow it to see if there’s any problems. About 7or 8 years ago I had a mild stroke that affected my right side. They ran the same test back then and things looked good enough that they weren’t worried about me choking on food or drink. Been noticing problems lately on getting food and drink to go down so they ran the test again. Swallowing itself looked very good but they saw a pronounced bump (protrusion) in my throat that looks to be causing the swallowing problem.
The technician and the radiologist said more than likely it’s not a big deal. I’ll bet my MD will want it looked at to make sure it will be ok.
