Timing is going to be main thing. Birthday's mid October and November, Halloween and Thanksgiving. Possibly Nov 1 or 8 if I can get things going around here? Breakfast for those who want to show up early and going on into lunch? Prior to gun season for deer so those who don't have an easy place to shoot can get in a little siting in? Little bit of everything on the menu, whatever people want to bring? I still have about 40lbs of hamburger in the freezer and will be getting more this week, probably tomorrow. Beef ribs, pork tenderloin and a couple packages of boston butts as well.
So a deer season rifle site in get together. Sounds perfect to me. Just give me a job. You have my number.

Just sat down for a bit, rolled at 4:30 this morning to the lake. Needed a little more breeze to make it a bit more comfortable.

@Only the Tony

I’m in!

Let me know what I can contribute…..provisions, cash, ?
Show up and eat, we can deal with little things as we go.
Cannot due Nov. 8. It is our annual trip to Branson with friends. This is our 20th year to go

You do it when YOU want to do it. If I can make it, I will.
Understand the trip thing. We will figure something out. Hard to get things done with family stuff going all directions here. Boy is graduating a year early on his choice so maybe things will settle down on the Saturday runs next year.

Seems like a good thing to do. We shoot skeet on July 4th with brother and cousins last couple years, kinda enjoy it now. With some people living in towns I thought it would be decent to open up a place here where you might not be able to get the range as other places. So close to deer season would be perfect time to do it.

Any particular menu items people would like? Got a friend that works for Schreiber's so cheese is easily taken care of. I am open for suggestions. Tables and chairs can be got from church. I plan on doing some baking as well.

Pretty much everything I've seen that you cook looks really edible. 👌
What I'd really like to do is get a big o'l hunk of my pork over to you or Matt beforehand so it could be prepared by a grill / smoker master.

I am hardly a master on the smoker, I cheat every chance I get. Five or six hours on a gas smoker while I feed wood and then into the oven for low, slow finish. I was going to offer to get Matt a couple of boston butts from the freezer if he has a dedicated smoker. If Matt is willing and able to do the smoking, we can see if we can get your swine flesh to Matt instead.

Morning all. 58° right now, got to get moving on some hay and wood in a bit. Assuming my sisters boyfriend didn't run off with swing set from my grandparents I'll get it out here and set up a gong target as well. On list of things in next month will be shooting stand and target stands. I'll fix something up to hold clay pigeons as well since they will work well for reactive long range targets. Friend who wanted to go catfishing Wednesday backed out because of work stuff so I'll get some more done on the home front.
@Hedgerow Matt you will like this. J & J's had a scheduling issue and I got an 18 day hang on the last beefs I took. Picking them up Thursday morning.

More temps pushing 90* this week here. Everyone has some type of cold/sinus issue right now, the beans are filthy but seem to be doing well.

Knock on wood, things continue to go smoothly, making decent progress on the beans.

A/C crapped out in one truck & had two tires with nails/screws in them on the other truck.

I pulled 8 nails/screws from the treads of the dual while unloading, no idea where I picked all that debris up at.

Dad thought he was done baling except for one fella, he had 3 others call yesterday. Lol.

I guess we will only run one machine today.

Tried out making some fries last week from a cookbook I bought, parboil, pre-fry and freeze. Seem to turn out pretty good and I have a bunch of potatoes that need to have something done with. May try to setup outside and run larger batches.
